A meaningful learning for our students
One of the main objectives in a learning proces of a child is making their own process a meaningful one.
As the phsycology David Ausubel said (1918), the meaningful learning is that one in which the student relates the new information with the information s/he already had, remaking and readjusting both informations in this process.
It means, we have to give a sense to the concepts we are teaching in our lessons. And, the most important aspect, we have to ensure that the students are understanding what they are learning in that moment and why.
"Why am I learning this concept? Are useful for me in my everyday life?" These are questions very often in our learners everyday in the school. So it is our mission, as teachers, to let our students know the usefulness of all the concepts we are going to teach and where they can apply them for.
If they don´t see that, they can get bored in class and we maybe won´t get our principal purpose: A positive and completed student´s learning.
Luckily, we have a lot of real and manipulative resources to make our students´ learning more interesting and useful for them. In some cases, maths is not the favourite subject of the learners and we can change it if we find that way that cover their needs.
So, in conclusion, take your time and plan the best taks you want for your students in order to make their lessons unforgetable!
